Erik Werner has been working in the volunteer student travel field for the past 25 years.  As a former Peace Corps Volunteer, High School Spanish teacher,  Service-Travel Company Owner, and father of three children, he is a passionate believer in the profound educational outcomes these programs provide.   “I thoroughly enjoy the process of collaborating with teachers, parents, and students to make these experiences a reality and to provide young adults with the opportunity to expand their global horizons and feel empowered to make a difference.”   When Erik is not planning trips abroad he can be found skiing, biking, and spending time with his family in Boulder, Colorado.  Erik can be reached anytime at: ewerner@squads.ngo

Emilie Virgilio has been dedicating her time towards volunteering and actively learning about various cultures since she graduated from the University of Maryland in 2016. The She has spent the past three years traveling around the world breaking stereotypes and forming global friendships. Her humanitarian work through organizations including Girl Scouts and the YWCA have driven her passion to advocate and empower youth.  Emilie currently resides and works alongside our team in Panama City, Panama.   Emilie can be reached anytime at: evirgilio@squads.ngo

Once she graduated from TCU in 2019 with a degree in biology, she decided to take a leap and move from her home in Washington state to Panama City, working with the newest sector of Global Brigades: Squads Abroad. Squads are passionate groups of volunteers who mobilize abroad to create positive change. Each Squad type has a skill-based focus area that support the education, health and economic development objectives of community partners. Faculty choose their dates, duration (typically 1-2 weeks), and their site location from one of our six program countries.
